In a historic celebration of Jamaican culture, music, and community legacy, His Worship the Mayor of Kingston, Councillor Andrew A. Swaby, JP, alongside the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC), today officially conferred the Key to the City of Kingston upon dancehall icon Mr. Rodney Basil Price, O.D., universally known as “Bounty Killer.”

The ceremony, held at the Seaview Gardens Primary School, also marked the official renaming of Wenchman Road to Rodney Price Drive. The dual honours recognize Mr. Price’s sterling, iconic contributions to the music industry, his enduring philanthropic work through the Bounty Foundation, and his status as a creative pioneer, poet, and enduring voice of the people.

For decades, Mr. Price has used his artistic platform to elevate inner-city youth, launch the careers of numerous reggae and dancehall icons, and speak out on socio-economic issues. The renaming of Wenchman Road directly anchors his lifetime of achievements in the heart of the Seaview Gardens community where his musical journey took root.

The historic proceedings brought together civic leaders, government officials, cultural practitioners, and members of the local community to celebrate an influential voice whose impact continues to resonate across Jamaica and the global music landscape.
