Improving Cleanliness and the Business Environment in Downtown Kingston
A recent report has highlighted encouraging findings from a perception survey conducted under the Downtown Kingston Redevelopment Initiative. The survey points to measurable improvements in cleanliness, safety, and business confidence, particularly in sections of downtown Kingston.
According to the findings, positive public ratings for cleanliness increased from 39.6% to 58%, while reports of environmental challenges affecting businesses declined significantly, moving from 48.6% to23.3%.
These findings confirm what many of us have been observing on the ground: when our streets are cleaner and better maintained, people feel more comfortable moving throughout the city, and businesses gain greater confidence to operate, grow, and invest.
This progress is an important reminder that the work of maintaining a clean, orderly, and vibrant city must remain a priority for all of us.
The KSAMC is therefore pleased to see that initiatives similar to the Cleaner Kingston Initiative are also contributing to improvements in the cleanliness and beautification of the downtown business district. These collaborative efforts demonstrate the positive impact that can be achieved when stakeholders work together in pursuit of a shared goal.
We welcome and encourage other partners and stakeholders to come on board as we continue working collectively to improve our surroundings and strengthen the appeal and vitality of downtown Kingston.
The progress we are seeing today demonstrates that when the KSAMC leads with clear priorities and stakeholders come together in partnership, meaningful transformation of our city is possible.
