Encroachment Management – February 2026

During the month of February the KSAMC continued its encroachment management activities across the municipality. A total of 154 notices were served for various breaches, including:

52 notices relating to derelict vehicles

80 notices for abandoned vehicles

12 notices for illegal structures

10 notices for street-side garages

Additionally, enforcement operations were conducted targeting illegal garages and abandoned vehicles in several communities across the municipality.

81 vehicles were removed from public streets during the reporting period.

173 event and party signs were removed from public spaces as part of efforts to reduce visual clutter and maintain order throughout the municipality. The signs removed included those that were unauthorized and those advertising events that had already passed.

Under the Public Health (Nuisance) Regulations 1995,the Council also served 25 notices requiring property owners to bush and properly maintain their properties. While several owners have complied, a number of locations remain in breach and will be subject to further enforcement action.

These efforts form part of the KSAMC’s Cleaner Kingston campaign, as we continue working to improve the appearance, safety, and orderliness of our communities, and to ensure that public spaces are properly maintained for the benefit of all residents.
